Godzilla 2 main trailer script

(Music: “Requiem” by Gyorgy Lygeti)

(Cut from black to close up of Ford Brody’s face. He looks tense. Camera slowly pulls back and we see he’s wearing his full EOD uniform with HALO jump mask. Three beeps are heard and he and other soldiers run toward the back ramp of the plane as camera stays stationary to Ford’s position. Cut to long shot of the plane similar to the first movie.)

(Cut to Ford falling. Suddenly he hears a soldier scream. He looks to his right. Soldier burns up in ball of flame. Cut to Ford’s right as he looks to the left to see another soldier burn up. The surrounding sky turns red and hellish. A roar is heard below. Ford looks down and his eyes widen in horror. He tries to open his chute but it’s jammed. He starts flailing around screaming. Camera pulls back from Ford as he falls. The head of the Female MUTO emerges from the clouds and roars as Ford falls toward her mouth.)

(Music stops.)

(Cut to Ford shooting up in his bed, breathing hard and wide eyed. It is nighttime. Elle turns on bed side lamp.)

ELLE: Ford, Ford, are you alright? What is it?

(Cut to low shot of the bed, camera facing Elle. Ford slowly slumps back down toward camera.)

FORD: Nothing. Just a bad dream.

(Fade to black.)


(Music: “Cry of the Ancients” from Dead Space 3.)

(Knocking is heard. A door opens. Fade to Ford with a surprised look.)

FORD: … Dr. Serizawa.

(Cut to Serizawa, Dr. Graham at his side, body guards behind them in front of a large black van.)

SERIZAWA: Good afternoon Mr. Brody.

(Fade to black. Fade in to Graham talking to Ford.)

GRAHAM: We would like you to become an official member of MONARCH.

(Ford looks at her in surprise. Fade to down left panning shot inside of MONARCH headquarters. Fade to Ford, Elle, and Sam looking around. Fade to black. Fade to Ford in briefing room, being handed his new uniform.)

ELLE (VO): Be careful out there.

(Fade to low shot of Godzilla charging at Rodan in a cloudy valley. The two crash into a mountain sending debris flying. Cut to Ford taking cover from the debris. He looks left and sees John Reaver. Cut to mirrored shot with Reaver looking at Ford. Fade to MONARCH briefing room as Reaver talks.)

REAVER: Sgt. John Reaver, United States Marines.

(Cut to Ford.)

FORD: Ex-Lt. Ford Brody, United State Navy EOD.

(Fade to black. Fade to briefing room. Adm. Stenz lays down a small stack of files.)

STENZ: I would like you two to get acquainted with this man. A Mr. Jay Voorte…

(Cut to black. Fade to inside an old, dark collision as camera moves slowly toward the podium.)

STENZ (VO): … Lost his whole family to Godzilla’s tsunami in Hawaii, went completely insane, started his own anti-monster cult.

(Fade to left panning shot of Voort’s followers listening with intent.)

STENZ (VO): As far as I’m concerned, he’s the source of our problems.

(Cut to low left shot of Voort.)

VOORT: We, as humans, will take back the reigns, and we will send all of these abominations back to where they belong!

(Cut to still shot of Voort’s followers cheering in admiration. Fade to a burning building crumble apart and fall as people run away. Fade to Ford placing flowers on Joe and Sandra’s grave.)

FORD (VO): I only agreed to this so they would be safe…

(Fade to black. Fade to Ford angrily shouting at Serizawa in the briefing room.)

FORD: … because they are all I have left!

(Cut to Serizawa’s face, he is taken back. Fade to Mothra’s web cocoon breaking open. Cut to crowds looking in awe. Fade to Godzilla destroying a nuclear power plant and feeding on the fuel rods. Fade to MONARCH HQ main chamber under attack by Voort’s men. Fade to a city on fire as crowds of people run away.)

FORD (VO): If anything happens to me and I don’t make it back…

(Fade to black. Fade to Ford embracing Elle and Sam in MONARCH HQ corridor.)
 
FORD: … I just want you both to know that I love you.

(Cut to close up of Elle crying. Cut to black. Fade to frontal shot of Ford and Reaver talking to each other in front of various military vehicles as other soldiers scramble to get ready.)

FORD: Do you think that was the right thing, to just leave them like that?

REAVER: Listen Brody, don’t worry about it. You’re going to make it though this and you will get back to them. We all will. You just have to…

(Impact tremors start to shake the ground. Everyone takes notice. Ford turns to Reaver.)

FORD: Well, looks like the big guy’s here. You ready?

(Reaver shrugs his shoulders and grabs his rifle.)

REAVER: Damn right.

(They charge off into the city. Camera pans out and up into the skyline. The sky is dark and stormy. Godzilla walks into the city. He angrily looks up at the sky and roars.)

(Music stops.)

(Fade to a dark hellish background as close up of King Ghidorah’s central head rises into frame. He opens his bright, glowing red eyes and smiles devilishly as he cackles. Cut to black.)
