MLH RTE ch. 10

Discord strained as he tried to sit up right, covered in dirt. Nopony could believe it. "Impossible." said Twilight. "Even after that, he's still…" said Celestia. Sonic put up his hand. "Relax, you don't to worry about him now." Discord angrily eyed everyone but sighed deeply with a depressed look on his face. "Oh forget it. I'm done." Everyone but Sonic gasped, and Discord wasn't lying either, they all could see that in his expression. "Whoa, Sonic what did you do to him?" asked Rainbow Dash in bewilderment. "I used my super powers to neutralize him kinda like I did to this other monster named Chaos, making him good. I guess you could say I tamed Discord."

The ponies stared at the hedgehog then to Discord, who was still fuming. "I just wanted to make life fun for everypony, but it looks like I can't do that." he said groaned sadly. Sonic looked at him in pity for a bit and walked up to him. "Look Discord, life can be boring, it really can, and it's nice to spice it up every once in a while, but if you keep overdoing it, then it's not so fun after all." Discord was speechless, he didn't know what to say. "But… but I never held back before. How am I supposed to know when enough is enough?" the draconeques asked sincerely. Sonic gave a small chuckle and offered a hand. "It's not that hard, you just have to find on instinct. If you want to find that limit, you just have to open your heart."

Discord eyed the hedgehog and looked at his hand. He scratched his beard for a few seconds then smiled, not evilly but happy. "Ok I'll try." He took Sonic and shook it. To everyone's surprise, nothing happened. Discord really must have changed for the better. Celestia approached Sonic and announced "Sonic the Hedgehog, once again you have saved Equestria from certain doom." Celestia glanced at Discord, who smiled sheepishly. "Um, so we're back on good terms again Celestia?" "I'll deal with you later." she scorned slightly. "Indeed sister, as of now, a celebration is in order." exclaimed Luna from the side. At the sound of another word for party, Pinkie started vibrating with excitement.

Later in the palace, ponies from all around watched as Sonic and the six ponies walked down the isle. The Ponies stopped as Sonic approached Celestia and Luna. He looked over and saw a stained glass picture of the six defeating Discord next to one covered by a curtain. Sonic looked up the white alicorn, smiled and got down to one knee. "THTHTPPPHTPHTTHPTTPPTH!!" Everyone was appaled by this sudden noise. Sonic looked at his knee and saw a whoopee cushion. Discord then teleported in. "Hehehe, sorry about that let me get that out of your way." He picked up the whoopee cushion and teleported away again.

Slightly annoyed, they continued the ceremony. Sonic smiled up to Celestia, who's horn glowed. A medal with the royal sisters in the shape of the yin-yang symbol was lifted up put around his neck. Then she magically took down the curtain revealing another glass picture, with the image of Sonic offering a hand to Discord. "Wow, that looks really good." smiled the hedgehog. Celestia giggled slightly and looked to the crowd, who applauded their hero. Rainbow Dash came looking a little excited. "Hey Sonic I just remembered. You wanna have that race?" How could he say no to that. "Sure thing RD, let's do it!"

"I can't believe it! How could Rainbow Dash lose!" cried Scootaloo in disbelief. "Aw, calm down Scoots, it's just a race." "Yeah, and Rainbow Dash did really good even though if she was 500 ft behind." her friends Applebloom and Sweetie Bell said in an attempt to calm her down. Ponyville was in an uproar at the results of the race of the century. Sonic had beaten Rainbow Dash by 500 ft. She could not believe it as the crowd gathered around Sonic and congratulated him. She put her head down and flew away. Sonic saw this and was concerned, so he went after her.

He found the rainbow pegasus under a tree on the outskirts of town. She almost sounded like she was trying to keep herself from crying. "Yo rainbow Dash, you ok?" She turned around at the sound of his voice, she had an obvious look of sadness, then put her head back down. "Hey it was just a race for fun right?" Sonic tried reassuring her. "It's not about that." she responded with a slight edge. "This was the first time I EVER lost a race to ANYONE, pony or not. I have this feeling inside me I've never felt before and I hate it. Now I'll never be the fastest in Equestria."

Sonic reconciled with the pony for bit then had an idea. "Well you don't have to let get you down this much. Think of it like this, you're still the fastest PEGASUS in Equestria." Rainbow Dash glanced up to the hedgehog, not looking as sad. "Yeah, maybe you're right." Sonic smiled a little and looked off into the distance. He closed his eyes and began to sing. "It doesn't matter now what happens I will never give up the fight
There is no way I will run away from all of my frights
Long as the voice inside me says go, I will always keep on running
There is no way to stop me from going to the very top
It doesn't matter who is wrong and who is right."

Rainbow Dash started at Sonic, surprised by his singing. "Whoa, where did that come from?" "Oh it's just a lyric from a song I mad in my head. Thought it'd cheer you up." Rainbow Dashed rubbed her face a bit. "Yeah it did. Thanks Sonic." He put his hand on her back. "No prob, and you'll always be cool to me." The pegasus blushed slightly and her wings opened up suddenly, making her blush harder. "Uh, is that supposed to mean anything?" asked Sonic. "You really don't wanna know." answered Rainbow Dash who started to laugh. Sonic laugh along with her as the two looked off into the distance.
